Youth Dog Training Series

Have a young person in the home who would like to learn more about dog training?

Four dog training classes over summer break, specifically for youth ages 12 years and older. Bring the family dog in for training! Youth will teach their dog to walk nicely on leash, train basic obedience commands along with a trick or two.

Please note that dogs who excessively bark at other dogs won’t be a good fit for this class. Contact us with any questions but please click on the Class Schedule below for more details.

Space is limited.

Nosework for Fun

Nosework is a new sport based on scent detection work, much like the dogs you see working with the police departments looking for illegal substances or lost persons, except in the competitive sport of Nosework, the dogs search for essential oil scents. In Synergy Dog’s Nosework for Fun, however, we’re going to play for fun -- and search for treats!

With one dog working at a time, this is a great activity for:

  • Shy or fearful dogs -great confidence booster

  • Dogs who struggle with other dogs -the game is played one dog at a time

  • Dogs who are physically restricted -great mental stimulation, dogs leave pooped!

  • Busy, energetic dogs -allows them to focus on a task and work

  • Dog owners who can’t keep up with their dog’s energy -mild physical activity for us!

Stranger Danger

Although many dogs love to say hello to new people; just as many dogs have concerns about strangers approaching them. It’s not unusual for those dogs to bark, growl, hide behind their owners, or even lunge. During a private, 1 : 1 training session with our instructors, we will determine the motivation behind your dog’s behavior, develop a plan to help your dog change his mind about what the presence of strangers mean that, with practice, will allow for better, safer choices by your dog when new people are present.

In addition to one on one private training sessions where we can give you customized and creative plans to help your dog, we also offer group Workshops, generally twice a year, focusing on Stranger Danger plans. See our Class Schedule for the next Workshop.
