<image:title>In Synergy Blog - Crate Training Magic - Hard Plastic/Airline Crate – Best for dogs with separation anxiety or escape tendencies.</image:title>
<image:caption>A hard plastic/airline crate is the safest bet for most any dogs. Not only does this provide the most authentic den experience, it has proven to be challenging to escape from and is least likely to injure your dog if he panics and tries to escape. These hard plastic/airline crates come with either two finger-squeeze latches or a dial latch – both are very secure, however the dial latch is recommended for the determined escape artist.</image:caption>

<image:title>In Synergy Blog - Crate Training Magic - Wire Crate</image:title>
<image:caption>Not recommended for dogs with separation anxiety or strong escape tendencies, but works well for house/potty training. A wire crate also works well for a dog who may need to be crated when visitors come over so that the visitors can toss treats easily to the dog. Wire crates provide the option for the dog to feel more a part of the family since he can more easily see what is going on around him plus you have the option to hang a blanket over it, if needed, to provide more seclusion.</image:caption>

<image:title>In Synergy Blog - Crate Training Magic - Soft Crate</image:title>
<image:caption>Not recommended for use with puppies, chewers, dogs with separation anxiety, or those with a tendency to escape. Soft crates are ideal for adult dogs who are already crate trained and are great for travel in the car, at the hotel, or camping trips.</image:caption>

<image:title>About Synergy Dog - Hi, I’m Sarah.</image:title>
<image:caption>Working with dogs with a variety of backgrounds and behavioral needs has provided me with a large and diverse toolbox. I began Synergy Dog Training & Behavior Solutions because I have seen the heartache and challenges that people live with when their dog's behavior limits their freedom. I, too, have lived with dogs who have demanded more patience and skill from me than I sometimes felt I had. I believe in providing a service where you, your family and your dog can experience a cooperative relationship — one that gives you confidence in your dog’s choices, improving everyone’s quality of life. I've been training dogs for over 30 years now. I am a Certified Dog Trainer and Professional Member of the International Association of Canine Professionals as well as an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator with a Certification as a Pet First Aid Responder. All of these certifications, however, don’t compare to my experience. I managed Longmont Humane Society's Training & Behavior Department where I developed behavior modification plans for owned and unowned dogs. Deploying for the ASPCA’s Behavior Team while assisting their Field, Investigative and Response partner, I worked with dogs confiscated from abuse and hoarding cases. Most recently, I was Chief Operations Officer for the non-profit Dogs Playing for Life, where I trained dogs with advanced behavioral needs, while instructing people, nationwide, to assess and progress dogs with a variety of needs and challenges. I continue to grow in my knowledge and have learned from many respected international professionals, but, the 1000s of dogs I've had the privilege to experience, remain my greatest teachers.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Fast track your dog's learning curve and I will train your dog! Get moving to that well-behaved dog you want to live with! You may have looked into, or heard about, Board & Train programs, which has the dog, generally, living in a kennel environment while she is trained-- this is different. Your dog will stay home with you while we train her during the day. With our Day Train program, she’ll spend a few hours with us, then go home. This is definitely your fast track to success! With options for training in your home and/or at our Training Facility, parks, or other areas with real life triggers, we’ll tailor a personalized training plan specific to your dog which will include solutions to whatever challenges you may be experiencing. Your customized plan will be specific for your dog that, not only includes what many of us want from our well-behaved companion, such as Sit, Down, Stay, Come, and walking nicely on leash, but also addresses your dog’s specific needs. Special Day Training programs providing basic obedience skills and general good manners: Puppies, 8 weeks - 4 months One & a half hours/day for 5-10 days Older puppies and adult dogs Two hours/day for 10 days For dogs needing a more advanced program, two to five week Day Train programs are recommended.</image:caption>

<image:title>Puppy Classes - Well-Rounded Puppy</image:title>
<image:caption>Congratulations on your new puppy! And, good human to you looking at socializing your puppy. Exposing your puppy to a variety of experiences, sights, sounds, and persons is of the utmost importance right now. Doing so at this young age, will give your puppy every best opportunity for growing into a stable adult dog. During the critical time of life from 8 weeks to 16 weeks of age, puppies learn a lot about their world, for instance, what is normal and therefore comfortable and worth tolerating, such as vetting, grooming, people on skateboards, children, strangers, men with hats and beards, people in wheelchairs, and the list goes on. It is important, however, that your pup is monitored for her reactions to these new experiences and adjustments are made when necessary so she doesn't learn to be fearful but instead learns to be confident, growing into a well-adjusted adult. In the Well-Rounded Puppy Class, we will monitor her body language and guide you, and her, through those new experiences ensuring that we are building confidence and self-assurance through exposure to new stimuli. In the Well-Rounded Puppy, we will spend time teaching Sit, Come, Up, Off, Check It Out as well as playing cooperation games where they’ll learn not to jump up when greeting visitors. And, we'll take time teaching your pup to walk nicely on leash, too. With a strong focus on the socialization necessary to support your puppy into a confident adult, this class is for puppies age 2 mos to 5 mos. Some smaller breed puppies will be accepted up to age 6 months. Note that puppies do not finish receiving their full puppy immunizations until 16 weeks of age. Until this time, and even after, it is important that your puppy is kept safe from the possibility of contracting disease. Do not bring your puppy to dog parks or other parks where unknown dogs have visited. Synergy Dog's puppy class is held in a protected area to maximize your puppy's protection; however, we will require that each attending puppy be current on their vaccine boosters and be in good health for attendance. “During [the first three months of life] puppies should be exposed to as many new people, animals, stimuli and environments as can be achieved safely and without causing overstimulation manifested as excessive fear, withdrawal or avoidance behavior,” the AVSAB position statement says. “For this reason, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior believes that it should be the standard of care for puppies to receive such socialization before they are fully vaccinated.”</image:caption>

We’ll play games such as Tic Tac Toe, Nosework and Musical Chairs with our dogs - Go to an open field and practice recalling your dog from a distance - Teach your dog to go to his bed or “place” and remain there until released, giving you an option to take your dog to a restaurant and remain wherever you place his bed - Teach your dog to switch sides, walking on your right or left depending on other dogs walking by or on a narrow trail - Give you some games to engage with your dog to strengthen their muscles, supporting them in their athleticism and as they age - Prepare you and your dog to pass the Canine Good Citizen exam - Support you and your dog to have leisurely walks together, as your dog walks by your side past bicyclists, children and with other dogs nearby -Meet in a variety of locations so that you can practice with help from our Instructors advancing your dog in their training and your pride in their behavior. This is a great class to increase your dog’s and YOUR motivation to train and play together. The class is designed to use real life situations with creativity and fun for you too — when it’s fun for us, it’s fun for our dogs! This is a once a month class. You may sign up for just one or many - whatever works for your schedule. <image:title>You & I Train Your Dog - You & I Train Your Dog</image:title>
<image:caption>Let's work together to help your dog understand what you need from her! Dogs do what works. It's our job to determine what she wants and then show her how to, appropriately, get it! This is a great option if: We anticipate that, through these sessions, we can make progress quickly We may want to start here and then propel forward to a Group Class We identify that having you participate more fully in the beginning stages of your dog’s training will help us reach your goal faster You’d like to take a more active part in your dog’s training Rest assured, that we will also be hands-on working directly with, and training, your dog throughout this process, too. The dogs (and people!) we have worked with are diverse! These dogs have taught us lots over the years and they continue to be our best teachers. We’ve successfully trained dogs (and the people who love them) with behavioral challenges such as: Wariness of strangers Destruction in the home Poor leash manners Barking at other dogs or people when on or off leash Barking or chasing cars, skateboards, bicyclists, joggers Territorial or protective behavior Guarding behaviors, such as food or person guarding Playing keep away, ie, not coming when called Plain ole not doing as asked Crate training Exuberant tug or ball play Discord with the cat or other dog in the home Generally fearful or anxious Fearful/discomfort with certain family members Housetraining Mouthiness Crazy high energy New puppy Our private training sessions, like all our services, are intended to provide you with solutions to whatever challenges you may be experiencing so that, sooner rather than later, you can more fully enjoy everyday life with your dog. We will work together to reach that successful solution. Not sure which option is best for you? That’s ok! Let’s talk about what you need and, together, we can discuss the fastest path to get there.</image:caption>

<image:title>Essential Obedience - Essential Obedience</image:title>
<image:caption>Want a Cooperative Dog? Play together! In this Essential Obedience class, we use agility equipment such as see saw, tunnel, steps, wobble board and more to create lure and obstacle courses engaging your dog and you as a team. Dogs do what works! If they get attention from you when they jump, they learn to jump. If the dog (or person) they are concerned about goes away, when they bark and lunge at that dog, then they learn to continue with this behavior. If they learn that “Sit” is only required when you have a treat in your hand… you get the idea. Dogs are not stubborn, they do what works. When we understand what our dogs want, we can better show them how to get it, in a manner that makes us happy too! This class will cover commands such as Sit, Down, Stay, Off, Up, and Come. Also included is practice walking mannerly on leash (both at the end of the leash and by your side), polite greetings of strangers and waiting for permission to exit an open door. Interact with your dog on an obstacle and lure course and play stimulus control games (in other words, teaching our dogs PATIENCE and don’t jump or grab something you want). All of these activities provide the benefit of helping your dog WANT to work with you. Teaching commands is just one part of helping your dog be cooperative. We will be most successful when our dog understands that it’s worth his while to do as we ask. Small class size allows us to ensure that you and your dog are given plenty of attention so, no matter their level of obedience understanding, we will adjust the games and exercises in order to advance your dog and provide just enough challenge so you and your dog learn more, together. Have no time to do "homework" in between classes? Neither do we! We'll give you ideas for adding "training" into your daily routine so that your dog's newly learned behaviors can be practiced in everyday life -- that's what we all want, afterall. Essential Obedience covers beginning through intermediate skills. Class fee includes a training collar, if recommended by instructor. For dogs over the age of 5 months. Join us!</image:caption>

<image:title>Loose Leash Walking - Walking Well</image:title>
<image:caption>You want to walk your dog but the dread of being pulled down or having your dog bark and lunge at other dogs makes this a not-so-fun activity? Join us for one class and let us show you some tricks that will encourage your dog to want to walk with you rather than fight you, your muscle vs his. No Walking Well classes scheduled at this time. Please consider joining us in an Essential Obedience group class where we will practice walking nicely on leash regularly in this 7 week class. Do either of these sound familiar: Dog is pulling at the end of the leash trying to get to wherever you may be going, while you have the leash wrapped around your wrist, pulling him back, sure that he is going to pull the leash out of your hand, run off into the street or pull you down to the ground? Or, every time you and your dog walk by another dog, either on leash or behind a fence, your dog barks and lunges and looks like the Tasmanian devil? In this one hour class, we'll show you how to create a spot, right by your side, where your dog will want to walk. Whenever we match our muscle versus our dog's muscle, our dog will most always win- time to use a different tactic! Using treats, the word "yes!", and your feet (yup, your feet!), we'll show you the basics for motivating your dog to choose to walk nicely with you, rather than pull ahead of you. Come walk your dog with us! Space is limited.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Nosework is a new sport based on scent detection work, much like the dogs you see working with the police departments looking for illegal substances or lost persons, except in the competitive sport of Nosework, the dogs search for essential oil scents. In Synergy Dog’s Nosework for Fun, however, we’re going to play for fun -- and search for treats! With one dog working at a time, this is a great activity for: Shy or fearful dogs -great confidence booster Dogs who struggle with other dogs -the game is played one dog at a time Dogs who are physically restricted -great mental stimulation, dogs leave pooped! Busy, energetic dogs -allows them to focus on a task and work Dog owners who can’t keep up with their dog’s energy -mild physical activity for us!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Although many dogs love to say hello to new people; just as many dogs have concerns about strangers approaching them. It’s not unusual for those dogs to bark, growl, hide behind their owners, or even lunge. During a private, 1 : 1 training session with our instructors, we will determine the motivation behind your dog’s behavior, develop a plan to help your dog change his mind about what the presence of strangers mean that, with practice, will allow for better, safer choices by your dog when new people are present. In addition to one on one private training sessions where we can give you customized and creative plans to help your dog, we also offer group Workshops, generally twice a year, focusing on Stranger Danger plans.
